Jennifer Sorensen started watching children in her home with her husband Paul over five years ago.  Before that time, she had extensive experience as a much sought after babysitter, an accomplished student of Child Development in school, and most of all raising their own eight-year-old son. 

Jennifer also worked with kids as the Religious School Secretary at the local Jewish Synagogue before she became their bookkeeper.  She has also held many positions in her own church working directly with kids and youth for more than a decade. 

            Combined with her husband Paul’s Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Almost Home Playcare became a perfect fit as their family business.

Heidi Gruis came to Almost Home, first as a customer with her husband Kevin, bringing their two daughters who are now five and three years old.  She quit her job three years ago to join Almost Home full time.  Heidi brings many skills and energy and has developed a great rapport with both children and parents.

We are licensed with the State of Utah and with Murray City.  We are affiliated with a federal food program, which provides snacks and meals.  We have also completed dozens of hours of training in First Aid, CPR and Food Handling. We operate with a National Accreditation Certification (NAC).  We are also associated with the Child Care Resource and Referral Department, who help us out immensely with curriculum development, provider training and resources.
